There should and may be a long time, of recovery.

(1,489 posts)we may be generally a bit premature with our grim prognostications. Prostate cancer with mets is not quite the same as, say, lung ca with mets. It can respond quite well to various treatments modalities. I've seen people go on for years and years. And it may be, when Joe finally shuffles off his mortal coil, that it will be because of something entirely unrelated.
He may even live to see, or even play a part in, the Repubs being thrown out on their asses in 2028.

(56,040 posts)Optimism is not opposed to realism. It is knowing that there is always something positive to do. It might not be to combat an illness, it might be to help someone else or to leave the world a bit better. Then it turns out that helping people helps oneself.
Best wishes to Biden. He helped a lot of people and still is.

(33,940 posts)no matter what anyone says. I think it might be the issue of age that defines a cancer diagnosis as a swan song. Used to be that way. My mother died when I was a year old, and several years later doctors said she would never have died had she lived a little bit longer. Now people live for decades after a diagnosis. We humans are all alike, and all so very different.
