PeopleBruce Springsteen resumed denouncing Donald Trump from the stage of his Land of Hopes and Dreams Tour Saturday night (May 17) in Manchester, England.
The Los Angeles Times reports the Boss didnt back down from his stance on Trump this weekend, after the U.S. president called Springsteen highly overrated, dumb as a rock and a dried out prune of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) in a post on Truth Social. The rant was Trumps reaction to the musician calling out the presidents corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration at his tour opener earlier in the week.
Things are happening right now that are altering the very nature of our countrys democracy, and theyre too important to ignore, Springsteen said to the crowd in a three-minute speech on Manchesters Co-op Live stage on Saturday, as heard in a video posted by the L.A. Times.
In my home, theyre persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. Thats happening now, Springsteen said, echoing what hed spoken about at his May 14 show. In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the worlds poorest children to sickness and death. Thats happening now. In my country, theyre taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.

(346 posts)that I asked it about The Boss, and here is the answer:
Donald Trump's charitable giving has been a subject of scrutiny and debate, with varying reports on the total amount he has donated over the years.
Personal Contributions
Investigations indicate that Trump's personal charitable donations have been relatively modest compared to his claimed net worth. A 2016 analysis by The New Yorker suggested that, over a 25-year period, Trump donated less than $5 million of his own money to charity, amounting to approximately 0.05% of his self-reported $10 billion fortune .

The Donald J. Trump Foundation
Established in 1988, the Donald J. Trump Foundation was primarily funded by external donors rather than Trump himself. Between 1987 and 2006, Trump contributed about $5.4 million to the foundation. After 2008, he ceased personal contributions, though the foundation continued to receive donations from others .

In 2019, following a lawsuit by the New York Attorney General alleging misuse of foundation funds for personal and political purposes, Trump was ordered to pay $2 million in damages to eight charities. The foundation was subsequently dissolved, and its remaining assets were distributed to charitable organizations .

Presidential Salary Donations
During his presidency, Trump pledged to donate his $400,000 annual salary to various government agencies and initiatives. Reports confirm that he made quarterly donations to departments such as Health and Human Services, Education, and Veterans Affairs .

Summary
While Trump has made some charitable contributions, both personally and through his foundation, the total amount is relatively small in comparison to his claimed wealth. Additionally, legal issues surrounding the Trump Foundation have cast further doubt on the extent and nature of his charitable activities.

It was also reported that the Secret Service had the Taxpayers buy a whole new fleet of golf carts at his resorts that were much faster than a normal golf cart, so that they could keep up with his personal higher speed golf cart......His favorite trick is to speed ahead of everyone else, and either drop a new ball where he wants it, or to kick the ball to where he wants it, before anyone gets there to witness his cheating.....He is a real piece of work......when he opens a new golf course, he plays the first round alone, writes down a ludicrous low score, and declares himself the all time record holder for the lowest score on that golf course......

(5,572 posts)And it is all there ...in Europe; no US dates.
Which prompted me to think: Is this tour more like a "Hey, Europe, we hate him too; at least half of the US is devastated"? and also, "that tsf and his band of lunatics, weirdos and don't give a fuck henchmen is not what we want for this country".
Thank you, Boss, for standing up for all of us who are devastated by this twist in our progressive history and for letting the world know he has half a nation behind him.
What a dude! What an artist! He is a hero, as well. He walks the talk.
Does anybody else know if he is touring the US? I have listened to the Boss for over 50 years; there is no one more patriotic than this artist or anyone who can better translate the US message.
I love what he is doinga true patriot.

I mean, there a millions of us with meager enough accomplishments that we'd have trouble arguing in the face of such power and aggression, but Bruce? Come on.

Isn't Trump just proving he's ridiculous even to the folks who don't understand politics?
