A guy that chickened out of the Vietnam War wants a military parade?

He was too good to fight for his country?

He told them he had "bonespurs"?

I was in basic training at Fort Campbell, KY with a guy that had half a lung missing. They pretended not to notice until we went on a long morning march and he collapsed in a ditch.

Yes, there were a lot of people that got deferments for the Vietnam War, but I don't know any of them that are asking for a military parade?

Tell Elon and GOP Congress critters that we could save a lot of money by letting courts enforce laws & incarcerate him for laws he's already broken. Court ordered therapy, in a locked facility, would save massive amounts of taxpayer dollars and probably save many lives.

Stop indulging the madman. It doesn't make him better and he'll only do more harm if left untreated. He's a danger to society and should be locked up as such.

Specialist Vanessa Guillén, US Army (deceased, murdered, likely by a fellow soldier). She is no more Mexican than Trump's grandfather, Frederick the Draft Dodger. Ms. Guillén was born a citizen of the United States. And she died an American, while serving our country.

Trump: ‘I Need the Kind of Generals That Hitler Had’

The Republican nominee’s preoccupation with dictators, and his disdain for the American military, is deepening.

By Jeffrey Goldberg
The Atlantic, October 22, 2024

In April 2020, Vanessa Guillén, a 20-year-old Army private, was bludgeoned to death by a fellow soldier at Fort Hood, in Texas. The killer, aided by his girlfriend, burned Guillén’s body. Guillén’s remains were discovered two months later, buried in a riverbank near the base, after a massive search.

Guillén, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, grew up in Houston, and her murder sparked outrage across Texas and beyond. Fort Hood had become known as a particularly perilous assignment for female soldiers, and members of Congress took up the cause of reform. Shortly after her remains were discovered, President Donald Trump himself invited the Guillén family to the White House. With Guillén’s mother seated beside him, Trump spent 25 minutes with the family as television cameras recorded the scene.

In the meeting, Trump maintained a dignified posture and expressed sympathy to Guillén’s mother. “I saw what happened to your daughter Vanessa, who was a spectacular person, and respected and loved by everybody, including in the military,” Trump said. Later in the conversation, he made a promise: “If I can help you out with the funeral, I’ll help—I’ll help you with that,” he said. “I’ll help you out. Financially, I’ll help you.”

Snip...

According to attendees, and to contemporaneous notes of the meeting taken by a participant, an aide answered: Yes, we received a bill; the funeral cost $60,000.

Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” Later that day, he was still agitated. “Can you believe it?” he said, according to a witness. “Fucking people, trying to rip me off.”

... has repeatedly denigrated veterans, calling them suckers and losers, and asking, "What's in it for them?" And now he wants an obnoxious display of fraud and waste costing upwards of $50 million, all just to stroke his infantile ego? Gimme a fuckin' break.
The peripheral expenses, like the clean-up costs, will likely double that figure when all is said and done. And the shitstain liars with (R)'s after their names, who are befouling the halls of Congress by their very presence, don't say anything to dissuade their Dear Leader, and lie their asses off when confronted with the blatant, multi-layered hypocrisy of it all.
How do such horrible people live with themselves? Oh. Right. Silly me. Sociopaths have no conscience.

arrest his ass. Put a fucking end to this. This could be the day when we find out if our military is our ally or enemy, if it stands for the constitution and democracy or fascism and dictatorship. I'm at the point where I need to know which areas of government, federal and local I can trust and not trust.

Just think what a glorious day June 14 could be. The Army saving democracy on home soil on their 250th birthday.

I came from a small, New England paper mill town where I can assure you most guys of certain ages either enlisted or were drafted in the Vietnam War. If any of these blue collar guys had bone spurs, they still would have been drafted. They were way too poor to have a father who knew somebody who knew somebody.

That effing draft-dodging fraud shouldn’t even be allowed in the same room with a Vietnam veteran. I still think about Trumps “suckers and losers” comment when I think of my sweetie dying from Agent Orange or when I shake the hand of a Vietnam Vet.

The thought of Trump’s birthday viewing of the troops makes me want to vomit. He thinks he’s too important to follow laws or our Constitution and way too good to fight for his country. What an absolute disgraceful POS that man is.

On June 14, 1775 the Second Continental Congress formed the Continental Army.

There were indeed a lot of young men who
sought deferment from fighting in that war.
I had friends and relatives who enlisted and also knew many who were strongly opposed to the war and tried to find a way out of serving.
Trump of course is his own unique story.
5 deferments I believe and it's obvious he didn't give a damn about the morality of the war in Vietnam or any war.

The only parade the taxpayers should be paying for with Trump is his final one.

$92 Million dollars is unacceptable to spend on a draft dodger’s birthday present/military parade.

You can’t push for wasteful spending cuts AND allow a draft dodger to have his ego boost.
