Gradually, Trump is losing even conservative vets.

I'm a Vietnam vet and a longtime member of the American Legion. I joined not long after being discharged from Walter Reed and my ensuing separation from the US Army. I joined because at the time there was no one else I could talk to that had the first fucking idea of what I was talking about. But I was most definitely a member of a minute progressive minority - at my home post and nationally. Hell, at the time, Richard Nixon had a 95% approval rating among Legionnaires. I had been wounded in combat and decorated for valor, so I was not dismissed outright, but my opinions were ... shall we say ... tolerated.
But attitudes are shifting. Trump's desecration of Arlington National Cemetery by using it as a campaign photo op, his gutting of the VA and slashing of veteran's benefits, his cavalier appointment of political toadies to oversee the lives of men and women who lay it on the line every day, and the contempt he has expressed both verbally and by his actions for those who have been wounded, captured, or otherwise have sacrificed for this country, have combined to change the game .
This week I wrote a letter to the White House and the DoD demanding that Pete Hegseth be removed as SecDef for malfeasance and dereliction of duty. Fully 80% of the Legion members at my post were happy to sign it. This repudiation of a Republican President would have previously been unthinkable.
The slimy, sociopathic shithead may not realize it, but there's a storm coming.

His disdain and disrespect for military and veterans has always been present.

Nice to see some of your fellows are coming around, but damn, how selectively blind can people be?

The Trumps are not shy about proclaiming how much they have 'sacrificed'.

Visit to Arlington Cemetery reminded Donald Trump Jr. of all his family's 'sacrifices,' he writes

The Lithuanian president honored them at their departure from his country but the make-up splattered con man had other priorities.

The veteran cultists I see will never admit their mistake. They lack the moral courage to admit a mistake. They are completely brainwashed and believe every stinking lie on Fox "News." Anything negative thing they will blame on George Soros or some stupid shit like that. They are lost. I see no attitudes shifting. Just dumb motherfuckers dying off.

I'm a member of the VFW and the Legion.

But if Republicans have proven nothing else in the last 12 years it's that they are an unbending monolithic group of sycophants for the Mango Mussolini.
They may complain but in the end they will do whatever he tells them to do and they will always do it.

That this or that group that strongly supports Trump is turning on him. Every time it has turned out to be wishful thinking. The exit polls said that Trump got 65% of the veterans’ votes in 2024. They knew who he was and what he thinks of them. Why would they change their minds now?

I’m pleased to hear that Trump is losing the support of some veterans. Why, oh why, did they continue to support him after his comments about John McCain? That was YEARS ago.

My beloved other half, a Vietnam veteran, suffered and died because of Agent Orange. Other veterans are suffering right now and our 5-deferment king is golfing. Trump deserves ZERO support from any veteran.

Most of pedo Trump's hate, and disdain for vets and the military has been on display since 2020. Weird that now is when they care. I guess better late than never.

They're responding to losing money and being denied medical care.

It's not that far out of sync with "Don't listen to what they say, look at what they do."

Of course, it's also true that some won't even do that.
