Eugene Robinson leaving WaPo after 45 years

Sharon Waxman
‪@sharonwaxman.bsky.social‬
Tragic. My beloved former editor Eugene Robinson is leaving the @washingtonpost after 45 years. The world is shifting, not for the better. “The... ‘significant shift’ in our section’s mission has spurred me to decide that it’s time for my next chapter." Godspeed. www.thewrap.com/eugene-robin...

Great journalist and analyst — I hope he’ll be writing and speaking elsewhere soon.

Eugene will be missed by the rational readers. I haven’t seen a huge difference in the opinions section, but the headline writers definitely give deference to Trump. As just one example, the WaPo headline on the stock market response to Trump’s tariffs was that stocks fell. The NYT headline was that markets plunge from shock. There’s quite a difference in meaning between stocks fall and stocks plunge.

The destruction of our information in front of our eyes. When they own the information, they can bend it all they want.
WARNING, do NOT read the Opinion page of USA Today from an Ex GQP, in today’s edition.
You will hit something and break your damn hand.
Praising all the firings of the working people.
It just showed up on my phone with other headlines.
I normally never read it. Should have stayed the course.
This is where our information is headed. North Korean level bullshit is all we will see, and digest.

He's just a really good, really decent man. It must be hard on him.
