His appointment of Lutnick has not helped matters because he seems even less rational than Trump. I waffle between believing that Trump is incredibly stupid or believing that he is destroying the economy and the government on purpose. Another is that he plans to stay in office for life, and a country in recession or depression with people struggling just to live is probably easier to control than a prosperous one where people feel free to protest.
