HHS/CDC/NIH

So have a family member that works at NIH and appears that while some higher level people were fired, most are on administrative leave, still getting paid.
They seemed to have been tailored to cause chaos and uncertainty though. In some cases it's HR people that are out on admin leave or other cases it's purchasing people or sometimes it's all of the above.
Basically its a shit show. I think this is a passive aggressive way of trying to get people to quit. They can side line people (no purchasers, no way to purchase stuff), hurt agency performance (no HR, no employee complaints) and don't have to worry about all the legal stuff of firing people.

I honestly think they have got over their skis on this and they will have to back off this move. Eventually.

Wear the people out, and then "fix" it all with a "strong man" style of leadership.
It's actually a protection racket at a national level.

Administrative leave means they will be paid but not come in.
Others have to show up for work but are slated to have a last day of June 30th. I think the differences have to do with their union collective bargaining agreements
